Perimenopause Naturopath – Gold Coast + Online
When you don’t feel like yourself anymore
Perimenopause can affect far more than just your cycle. Sleep. Mood. Brain fog. Energy. Weight. Digestion. Perimenopause can show up in ways you weren’t expecting. We help you make sense of the changes and support you through them.
Personalised naturopathic care for women navigating perimenopause, menopause and midlife.
what’s going on?
Perimenopause doesn’t always look the way you expect
You might expect hot flushes and irregular periods. You might not expect to suddenly wake at 3am every night. To feel anxious when you’ve never been an anxious person. To lose words mid-sentence, feel exhausted by mid-afternoon, or wonder why your tolerance for absolutely everyone is disappearing.
And then there’s your body. Your weight may be shifting despite doing nothing particularly different. Your joints might ache. Your skin or hair may change. Foods you’ve eaten forever might suddenly leave you bloated or uncomfortable.
Sometimes your cycle changes dramatically. Sometimes it’s subtle.
And sometimes the first clue is simply: “I don’t feel like me anymore.”
The changes can show up everywhere
We are often confused during perimenopause as we’re not expecting some of the symptoms and changes. We expect our periods to change or stop, but some of the other changes leave us scratching our heads, and sometimes even concerned. The fact is, perimenopause affects more than just your period. You might notice changes in:
Sleep - waking through the night, difficulty falling asleep or waking exhausted.
Mood - irritability, anxiety, feeling flat, overwhelmed or much less resilient than you used to be.
Brain & concentration - brain fog, forgetfulness, losing words or struggling to focus.
Energy - fatigue, afternoon crashes or simply not having your old reserve.
Weight & metabolism - changes in weight, appetite or body composition, particularly around your middle.
Periods & cycles - heavier or lighter bleeding, shorter or longer cycles, skipped periods or unpredictability.
Skin & hair - dryness, breakouts, changes in skin texture or thinning hair.
Digestion - bloating, constipation, reflux, altered bowel habits or foods suddenly not agreeing with you.
NAVIGATE perimenopause WITH CONFIDENCE, care & clarity
Perimenopause isn’t only about hormones
Hormonal change is part of the picture. But fatigue, poor sleep, brain fog, mood changes, weight changes and hair changes are part of the picture too. And thyroid function, iron and nutrient status, blood-sugar regulation, digestive health, stress, sleep and other health factors can influence how you’re feeling too.
Things overlap. Some things make others worse. And some things deserve thorough investigation.
At Health Haven, we look at what changed, when it changed, what else is happening in your body and what might actually be driving the symptoms affecting you most.
What We Consider
The key to how we work is taking the time to understand exactly what’s happening for you, because every woman’s experience is different. Then we map a plan specific to you. Our process looks like:
your symptoms
What is happening, when it started and whether there are patterns.
health history
Including medications, previous diagnoses, treatment and relevant pathology.
hormonal changes
Your symptoms, menstrual changes and where you may be in the menopausal transition.
Beyond hormones
Where relevant to symptoms such as fatigue, cognition, weight changes, mood or hair changes.
sleep & stress
Because both can profoundly affect how you feel and function.
gut health
Bloating, bowel function, reflux, food tolerance and whether digestive symptoms have changed alongside everything else.
Nutrition and lifestyle
What is needed to support your body now, the nutrients required and not “eat less, exercise more”.
testing
If further investigation is genuinely useful, we’ll discuss it. We don’t test for the sake of testing.
Naturopathic support alongside your medical care
You don’t have to choose between naturopathy and conventional perimenopause care. You may already be using menopausal hormone therapy (MHT/HRT), considering it with your doctor, have decided it isn’t right for you, or simply be trying to understand your options.
Naturopathic care can sit alongside your existing medical treatment, or be used as a stand alone. We support every woman’s journey through this transition in the way she chooses to travel it.
We can consider the medications you’re taking, share information and report to your doctor and we’ll support your choices 100%. The goal is the best care for you, whatever that combination looks like.
QUALIFIED NATUROPATH & OWNER OF HEALTH HAVEN – CASSANDRA DUFFILL
I’m in this chapter of life too…
Meet Cassandra Duffill
I’m not talking about perimenopause from the outside looking in. I’m 50 and navigating this stage of life myself, including my own hormonal changes after a hysterectomy & pelvic mesh removal in 2025.
I’ve experienced so many changes, being a naturopath doesn’t make me immune, and it’s been eye-opening to say the least! Where has my patience gone, why did I come into the kitchen, why am I so anxious for no reason and why do my joints ache so damn much…? But it has made me even more curious about what our bodies are doing and how to support them through the transition.
Perimenopause was already an area I knew well clinically. But living it daily has made me deep-dive even further; into what’s actually changing in our bodies, why women can experience it so differently, and how we can be better supported through the transition.
how you’re supported
Tailored Treatment, Ongoing Care
There isn’t a standard “perimenopause protocol” handed to every woman who walks through the door. That would be a disservice to you, and frankly, it wouldn’t work anyway.
Every woman is different – different symptoms, experiences, drivers and goals – so every treatment protocol has to be uniquely created. Plus as your symptoms and concerns change, we need to amend your treatment plan with it.
That’s why every women receives a complete custom treatment plan and ongoing support, and you can choose the level of support you need. Some women simply choose to go appointment to appointment at their own pace. Other choose to come into The Perimenopause Pathway with 12 weeks of sessions, support and ongoing care.
Either way, you’ll find help for the transition you’re going through.
Initial consultation
All our clients start with an Initial Consultation (75mins), either in-person or online. During this session we discuss your history, your symptoms, your health goals and and create a custom treatment plan for you. From here some clients choose to go session by session, other choose to join The Perimenopause Pathway.
The Perimenopause Pathway
A 12-week practitioner-led healing pathway, including a series of consultations, follow-up sessions, check-ins and ongoing support between sessions. Plus it includes a Supplement Starter Pack and other useful supportive assets.

FAQs
How do I know if I'm in perimenopause?
There isn’t always a single test or moment that identifies it. Your age, symptoms, menstrual history and changes over time can all help build the picture. If something else may be contributing to your symptoms, we’ll discuss whether further investigation is appropriate.
Do I need blood tests before my appointment?
No. Bring any recent pathology you already have, but you don’t need to arrange testing before you see us. We can determine whether anything further would actually be useful after understanding your history.
Can I see you if I'm taking HRT/MHT?
Yes. Naturopathic care can be used alongside medical menopause management where appropriate. Bring details of your medications and treatment to your appointment.
What if I've had a hysterectomy?
You can still experience menopausal hormonal changes after hysterectomy. Whether your ovaries were retained and other aspects of your medical history affect the picture, so we’ll look at your individual circumstances and symptoms.
What if my periods haven't changed?
Cycle changes are common during perimenopause, but they’re not necessarily the first change a woman notices. Sleep, mood, cognition, energy and other symptoms may also prompt women to seek support.
Can I have my appointment online?
Yes. Appointments are available via telehealth Australia-wide as well as in person at Health Haven in Nerang on the Gold Coast. As Gold Coast naturopaths we are very experienced at delivering a quality consultation both online and inperson.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly.
Do you work alongside my doctor or specialist/s?
Yes we can. If you want us to, we can absolutely work alongside your GP or specialists and keep them abreast of your treatment, with a detailed letter after each session, or a monthly update. We work with you, and them, for your best outcomes. We are happy to work with the medications you’re on, the doctors and specialists you’re seeing and keep them up to date (if you would like us to).
